Home Fabrics is looking for an experienced Sales Consultant to join our Pretoria team.
This is a field-based sales role for someone who enjoys building relationships, developing new business, and taking ownership of a territory. You do not necessarily need to come from the fabrics or interiors industry, but you do need a strong sales track record, commercial confidence, and the ability to build long-term customer relationships. Home Fabrics operates within the interiors and furnishings industry, supplying fabrics, wallcoverings, and related products to a broad customer base across South Africa. The role offers the opportunity to work in a creative, product-led environment while remaining firmly focused on sales, growth, and results.
The role
Manage and grow an established portfolio of customers.
Develop new business across the territory and surrounding areas.
Build strong, long-term relationships with existing and prospective customers.
Conduct regular customer visits and manage an effective call cycle.
Present product ranges and new collections confidently and professionally.
Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate product solutions.
Generate opportunities, follow up quotations, and drive orders to conclusion.
Take ownership of sales targets and territory performance.
Identify new accounts and actively expand the customer base.
Monitor market developments and opportunities within the territory.
Maintain accurate customer information, activity, and reporting.
Work closely with internal sales, showroom, operations, and management teams to ensure a high standard of customer service.
What we are looking for:
Minimum 5 years’ proven sales experience, in an external or territory sales role.
A demonstrated track record of achieving sales targets and growing business.
Strong new-business-development and prospecting ability.
Proven relationship-management and negotiation skills.
Confidence in presenting products and solutions to customers.
Commercially minded, with the ability to identify opportunities and close sales.
Able to work independently and manage a territory effectively.
Strong planning, organization and follow-through.
Professional communication and presentation skills.
Comfortable working with customers at different levels, from independent businesses through to larger commercial accounts.
Experience in textiles, furniture, interiors, décor, retail, manufacturing, hospitality, or a related industry will be advantageous, but is not essential for a strong salesperson with relevant transferable experience.
Minimum requirements:
Grade 12 / Matric.
Minimum 5 years’ relevant sales experience.
Valid driver’s license.
Own reliable vehicle.
Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Fluent in English and Afrikaans.
Ability and willingness to travel within the allocated territory.
Relevant sales, business, or industry qualifications would be advantageous.
The person:
Sales driven and results focused.
Confident and comfortable developing new business.
Self-motivated and accountable.
Professional and credible in front of customers.
Resilient and able to deal with a competitive sales environment.
Curious about products and able to learn quickly.
Able to build rapport across a wide range of customers.
Comfortable balancing relationship selling with the need to close business.
